An important reason why most of the people choose private approved driving instructors certainly is the cost factor. You may be paying just SGD$45 per 1 hour 30 minutes session (from what I check out the net some private driving instructors are offering lower rates) with a private driving instructor. And with the same driving instructor (private), you get better pointers with regards to correcting your bad driving habits, which often increases the odds of passing.
With the mainadvantage of getting a private driving instructor being the cost factor, the next challenge you have would be to hire the appropriate private driving instructor to get ready you for your practical test.
When you hire and work with a private driving instructor the first time, there is a one-time SGD$60 (industry average) as registration fee. The challenge lies herein, let’s say you make payment for the $60 registration fee and doesn’t get the right private driving instructor? You wind up paying the registration fees for a new private driving instructor again (and you face exactly the same risks still).
What we do here in Kukudrivers is to make use of a pool of private driving instructors who are good and come strongly recommended. In terms of this, one man’s meat can be another’s poison. In Singapore, you can take your driving lessons in any of the driving centres here: Bukit Batok driving centre, Comfort driving centre (ubi driving centre) and Woodlands driving centre.
Passing your Basic Theory Test is your step one in getting your driving license in Singapore.
Specifically we are referring to motor cars Class 3 / 3A / 3C / 3CA.
Note: Class 3C / Class 3CA are new licenses issued by the Traffic Police effective 1st June 2015.
To make things simpler, regardless of any type of Class 3 you will need to clear your Basic Theory Test and Final Theory Test thought your Practical Driving Test differs in terms of the requirements of the type of Class 3 license you are taking.
Whether you’re going for Manual or Auto (Class 3 / 3A / 3C / 3CA licenses), the Basic Theory Test (Exam) takes place in various driving schools. When taking your Singapore driving license, you can hire a private driving instructor for your practical tests at the same time while studying for your basic theory test and final theory test. Check out the Traffic Police Singapore website for other details.
Note: You can enroll as a school student for your basic theory test at CDC even if you intend to work with private driving instructors later. The fact is we recommend you to enroll with the school when you are getting ready for your Basic Theory Test.
Being a student, you are able to take more mock (simulated) basic theory test tests 2-3 hours prior to the actual exam. This certainly will greatly help you in clearing your Basic Theory Test.
Taking Your Driving Lessons in Singapore for your Traffic Police Driving License Test
Generally speaking your driving lessons (from start to finish) consist of both theoretical and practical lessons.
The sequence of your driving lessons are as (in order):
1. Basic Theory Lessons (theoretical)
You are able to really study from home at your own comfort you can also attend the lessons covered by the various driving schools. To be honest, the Basic Theory Test is based on the basic concepts of driving and learning the various road signs and traffic regulation. Basically rote learning (memorization) in my personal opinion.
2. Final Theory Lessons (theoretical)
Commonly known as “Advance Theory Test”, you can too attend final theory driving lessons if you’d like to and like the Basic Theory Tests, we feel it is sufficient to study at your own pace.
3. Practical Driving Lessons (practical)
Unlike the theoretical nature above, you are required to either sign up for a driving school for your school driving lessons or engage a private driving instructor for your private driving lessons.
